Overview and Description: Hope Chest Volunteer
The average time required for each volunteer will be 4 hours per month. Our ultimate goal is to find volunteers who have a heart for foster, adoptive, and/or in-crisis families and are looking for an easy, heartwarming environment and means to share their loving hearts.
The Volunteer will report to the Director of Strategic Programs.
Volunteers are needed to help staff a workday at the Ignite Hope Chest held once a month. This work day will be sorting, organizing, cleaning the Ignite Hope Chest, and facilitating our once-a-month parking lot shop outside the hope chest where families in need shop for free.
Volunteers are also needed to help pick up and/or deliver tangible needs to and from the Ignite Hope Chest. These tangible needs can be anything necessary to furnish and child’s room and can include items such as diapers, high chairs, car seats, changing tables, cribs, children’s beds, and children’s dressers.

About the Hope Chest:
The Ignite Hope Chest houses tangible needs for families in crisis or families caring for children in crisis such as foster families and/or adoptive families. Typical items found in the Hope Chest are anything to furnish a child’s room. This can be anything from diapers, car seats, and high chairs to changing tables, dressers, and beds. Items are donated to the Hope Chest from individual families, churches, businesses…etc on a random basis.
Items are gifted to families in need on an as-needed basis. To facilitate the receiving of donations and the gifting/delivery to families, volunteers and needed to help load/unload and transport these items. The need for these volunteers is totally random and volunteers must be flexible.
As items are received into the Hope Chest volunteers are needed for sorting and organizing items within the Hope Chest. To facilitate this a workday will be held at the Hope Chest once a month. On the same day as this workday items from the Hope Chest will be set up in the parking lot outside the Hope Chest similar to a yard sale and families in need can shop for free. Volunteers needed to move items from the Hope Chest to the parking lot and then interact with families shopping to answer questions and encourage and pray with them if needed.
